COAP Experience
"The St. John’s COAP program, now in our fourth year, offers a tremendous number of benefits to our students including a behind-the-scenes look at the accounting profession through field trips and guest speakers, one-on-one interactions with numerous young accountants and CPAs, a sneak preview of the college life experience at a major metropolitan university, various soft-skill seminars and team-building exercises, a financial literacy workshop, and access to accounting faculty and business school administrators at the AACSB-accredited accounting department at St. John’s Peter J. Tobin College of Business. Above all, students will be shown the infinite number of opportunities that our profession has to offer." COAP Chairmen Mark Ulrich
My experience was great participating in the Career Opportunities in Accounting Profession program at St. Johns University. Although I did not know yet whether accounting was my career path, it still gave me an enlightening aspect to the business world. We visited many firms such as Goldman Sachs and Deloitte to have guest speakers come in and speak about the firms. All of the guest speakers had spoken about their experiences in college and what decisions made them successful and which ones did not. Students were also given real-life situations to find answers from a business perspective. Overall the experience has lead me to continue my business path for my career.
