Teen News Shows

As my passion for story telling grew, I started to expand  the variety of mediums in which I told stories. Starting as early as middle school, my love of media production manifested itself in my involvement in various broadcasting ventures. I served as the host for a variety of teen news shows, anchored for my high school news, and was fortunate enough to work with my local news station as a junior broadcaster. These experiences helped me to form a unique on-air personality and strengthened my passion for broadcasting. As I learned how to tell stories visually from beginning to end I was able to not only exercise my creativity but my intellect as well. Having the privilege to learn and work with production equipment from such an early age, afforded me the opportunity to not only become comfortable with the process of production but also be able to grow with the industry and it's ever changing technologies. Having this exposure so early on in life has allowed me to keep my finger on the pulse of a variety of industries such as filmmaking, TV production, broadcast journalism, and advertising. It was also these early experiences that gave me the foundation necessary to use my on-air talents and production abilities to begin working toward a life in documentary style television.

Junior Broadcasting

Having beat out several hundred other students in the South Florida area, myself and a hand full of other lucky students had the privilege to serve as NBC 6 Junior Broadcasters. The Junior Broadcasting program offered by NBC 6 out of Miami, FL, gives students interested in broadcast journalism and TV production a chance to work with professional reporters, anchors and producers. One day for each of my high school years, I arrived at the news station in Miami and assisted in the production of that day's news broadcast. Myself and another student would produce and report a story that aired during the actual live broadcast and had the opportunity to interact with the anchors on live television. This experience had a profound effect on my goals to broadcast on a professional level.

Broward Teen News

BTN

Broward Teen News is a Broward County school board sponsored news show that allows students from each high school within the county to participate in the production of a weekly news broadcast that airs on a local station. With the help of instructors, the show is produced from start to finish by students and covers a variety of topics from current events to sports. Through the designated studio at the Broward Education Communications Network(BECON), students get real world experience in broadcast journalism and TV production. Aside from producing various segments for the show throughout high school, I also had the privilege to serve as the anchor for BTN throughout my junior year.

Teen Street

News Magazine Style

"Teen Street" was a news magazine style television show that aired throughout the state of Florida. Produced by Tricom Pictures, now Quorum Productions, the show was taped primarily in Miami Beach and focused on topics that affect teenagers. After a lengthy audition process I was eventually employed as one of the hosts. This was the first time I was able to use my talents and on air personality to help tell stories to a mass audience. The tone and style was more light hearted than the broadcast journalism I had already been involved in, but the experience was a serious one that has stuck with me throughout my career.
