Embarking on a New Adventure

This September I will start my journey to get my master's degree in Public Administration focusing on not-for-profit organizations. I am hoping that this will advance my career or lead to a new career change.

My Favorite Quote

I have been told that I cannot by a chorus of cynics who only grow louder and more dissonant. I have been asked to pause for a reality check. I have been warned against false hopes and dreams. But in the unlikely story that is ME, there has never been anything false about hope. For when I have faced down impossible odds; when I've been told that I am not ready, or that I shouldn't try, or that I can't, I respond with a simple creed that sums up my life...YES I CAN!

About me

I perform a variety of skilled and complex technical work in the procurement, installation, programming, maintaining, and security for servers, staff computers, public computers, and the Library Automation System within Pace University and its Library branches.

I am part of the library management team with leadership responsibility for planning, developing, implementing, managing, operating, and executing the library’s expanding computing environment of web-based services, mobile applications, and electronic resources. I help to define and articulate the vision, strategic directions, and priorities for information technology in a dynamic environment that values creativity, teamwork, and innovation.

In addition, I provide leadership in coordinating and defining system requirements and tasks for library-wide projects and initiatives. I take assessment of information’s effectiveness for current patron needs and usability expectations. I work in active partnership with all library departments.

The library’s I.T. department manages a number of servers, a large and growing storage network, ILLiad, and the Library’s Millennium ILS and Encore discovery platform. I supervise the configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of all technology equipment that is used by the Pace University Library Community. I also provide technical consultation services as needed for other technology issues and problems at our libraries. I install, program, and maintain technologies that interface and use the Library Automation System, including Innopac, Millennium, Encore, and Illiad.
I maintain and support our print solutions for public computers using the University’s I.T. Department’s software operation.

I also recruit, hire, supervise, and motivate both student-aid workers, and full-time workers. I train them to enhance the experience our patrons have in both our library and our Collaborative Learning Room.

It's all about TEAMWORK!

Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.

Leadership is solving problems. The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help or concluded you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership. —Colin Powell

The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint to keep from meddling with them while they do it. - Theodore Roosevelt
