Secrets of the Most Successful College Students
Last updated 14 August 2013 at 15:18
Calling yourself ‘unique learner’ might be overwhelming. Instead I always considered myself to be more of a ‘simple learner’. My intention whilst in and even out of the class is only to make learning and understanding as simple as possible because ‘simplicity is the ultimate sophistication’.
During my hostel life back in my 8th Grade I was too young to understand everything but I still believed in not complicating things for myself. I carried that attitude with me further in my high school and henceforth had a pleasant success. It doesn’t matter if I believe in Grades or no but more than anything I consider the knowledge I get from a class and if I am really interested to learn then my grades have to follow the lead. However, I wouldn’t sit in a class until I’m really interested. So everything simply falls in line.
The article ‘Secrets of the Most Successful College Students’ relates to me a lot and even puts some upfront things like eventually your Grades do become irrelevant. The last part ‘Make a contribution’ really interest me in particular because it is very necessary to have a significant contribution outside the classroom from what you learnt inside. The paragraph specifically talks about philanthropy but the overview is contribution. Everything you ever learned in the classroom should reflect you and your personality. Maybe some of it is inherited but we also tend to develop from our surroundings.
In past, I have had many challenges academically, the one that comes to my mind is of doing a research on a company, which involved extensive knowledge and searching about the company’s past and future prospective. The whole project was really overwhelming for me but eventually I didn’t give up and learnt to enjoy the process. Now has a matter of fact I was able to invest in the same company (buy shares) and fortunately my calculations worked well for me since I was able to make some money out of the whole deal.
