Personal goals

By the end of 2013 I want to have my own public relations company off the ground. I want to be fully committed to my already existing clients as well as taking on additional ones.

Academic goals

I want to graduate with my full Undergraduate degree in Media Communications along with my minor in Film Screen Studies. It's going to be difficult but I feel that I'm ambitious enough to make it happen.


By the time I graduate I want to have had an internship at a major or independent production company so that I can see if I'm truley fit for the industry.

Career goals

My ultimate dream job would be an executive producer for independent films. But besides that I have other goals or positions that I would be equally happy with. Just to name a few I'd love to run public relations departments for production companies, music labels or anything in entertainment.

Personal skills

  • Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Knowledge of basics of production work within: lighting, cinematography, camera functions, chroma key, choreography, directing, an introduction to Final Cut Pro and is familiar with the functions of AVID.
  • Knowledge of basic photography techniques.
  • Public relation work for local entertainment artists
  • Strong writing skills, especially within the fields of broadcast journalism, print media, social networking, press releases and featured articles
  • Knowledge of logistics (FedEx, UPS).
  • Knowledge of inventory statistics
  • Trained in house hold construction and has a background in basic installation of appliances and machinery.

Derek, Your Eporfolio is incredible. You have a lot of content uploaded and we share some of the same interest. I love how you shared RRS feeds about movie reviews and Pitchfork Album Reviews. I also admired how you displayed and organized your goals on your introduction page. However, I did find it difficult to view everything on one page. I think your information would be easier to follow if you placed some of it on another page. Other than that, your Eporfolio is amazing. -Erin Reed
