About Me
Recently, I completed a Master of Science degree in Publishing at Pace University, specializing in magazine publishing. I am highly interested in working for a women’s interest, news, or lifestyle magazine. My Master’s thesis focused on how advertising and editorial features found in women’s magazines affect female body image.
My publishing background and experience consists of several editorial internships I’ve held over the past few years at Soap Opera Digest & Weekly, BizBash, and Latina magazines. During my time there, I had the opportunity to write web and print features, along with sidebars. I have a strong passion for writing, specifically about television, film, entertainment news, trends, art, music, and popular culture. I write about whatever preoccupies my mind on my personal blog, So It Goes, and self-publish articles on Suite 101. Eventually, I would also like to pursue writing for television.
Overall Reflections
I have customized my ePortfolio to reflect my personal and proficient growth as a student and a working professional in the publishing field. As you browse each page, you’ll become acquainted with who I am and all of my experiences during my undergraduate years at Rutgers University and my graduate work here at Pace.
My ePortfolio presents whomever I invite to view with relevant coursework, papers, and projects I have completed and an array of organizations and leadership positions I have held. I showcase my publishing experience through the editorial internships I accomplished. I also took the opportunity to exhibit some of the tasks I was assigned at each internship, along with the writing I executed for each publication. During my spare time, I raise funds for a variety of charitable organizations and complete charity walks.
It has been a privilege to pursue a degree from Pace. The M.S. in Publishing program provided me with an understanding of all the significant aspects of the business and has prepared me in pursuing my goal of becoming a magazine editor. This experience has afforded me many opportunities to network with professionals from a variety of publications. Specifically, I am very proud of a post I wrote for the M.S. in Publishing blog last fall, which I present in my academic materials page. I was invited to write the article from my Magazine Production and Design professor, Andrea Baron.
