Hello, my name is Ashley (but you can call me Ash since you so nicely came to my ePortfolio page) and before I further introduce myself I want to thank you for viewing my ePortfolio.  I am excited to bring you into my world, the world of visual communication – in particular the dynamic, creative discipline of graphic design.  I have leisurely created graphics since I was 9 years old (I am currently 22 to give you a timeline of my experience).  Over the course of my communication studies I have delved into many wonderful fields such as photography, advertising, and the visual art of oral presentation. 

On many occasions I’ve told myself graphic design was strictly a hobby of mine and nothing more. However, not until quite recently I realized there is no other way I rather make a living than sitting at my computer for hours designing graphics.

This special, redefined journey reflects on a quote from the film, based on a true story, Into the Wild.  The protagonist Christopher McCandless, who went by Alexander Supertramp, tried to be someone he was not.  Toward the end of this movie he realized this was wrong as he quoted Boris Pasternak, “For a moment she rediscovered the purpose of her life. She was here on earth to grasp the meaning of its wild enchantment, and to call each thing by its right name. By its right name” (Boris Pasternak qtd in Into the Wild).

Through this ePortfolio I will show you who I truly am and how I see the world, I will do this by my right name.  I am a graphic designer.
