  • Marketing Plan Details

    Download Marketing Plan [114.5KB]}
    I created this marketing plan for the Apple iPad in my Principles of Marketing class. Creating this marketing plan taught me how to analyze a current product, create a SWOT analysis, evaluate the marketing mix and look for unsatisfied niches that the product could be targeted to.
  • Industry Analysis Details

    Download Industry Analysis [75.5KB]}
    I created this industry analysis as a part of my Learning Community. In conjunction with my Principles of Marketing class, I researched current trends in the U.S. Computer Industry and created an analysis for my Writing in the Disciplines class. Completing this paper taught me how to research and analyze current market trends and forecast trends for the future.
  • Wuthering Heights Details

    Download Wuthering Heights [42KB]}
    In my Writing Enhanced Romanticism and Modern World class, I wrote a final paper on Wuthering Heights that analyzed whether Catherine's illness was caused by psychological or physical reasons. This class helped me to look into the deeper meaning of romantic literature and observe how past poets and authors have influenced current romantic literature. This paper was nominated for a Writing Enhanced Award.
  • China Paper Details

    Download China Paper [67.8KB]}
    This was a paper that a classmate and I created after our trip to China. The purpose of this paper was to find a business or industry that either already existed in China or could be successful in a Chinese market and write a research paper on how that company should enter the market. My partner and I chose Mead Johnson, a dairy production company, which could meet the needs of the Chinese dairy market. After tainted milk products poisoned a large part of the population, dairy consumers lost faith in local production companies and looked toward foreign producers to purchase their dairy products from.
  • Market Research Details

    Download Market Research [61.1KB]}
    I completed this paper during my fall 2011 semester for my Market Research Class. The research objective of this report was to identify trends (if any) between the use of Facebook and the purchasing behavior of consumers. I used SPSS, chi-square, and ANOVA in order to determine whether or not the tests were statistically significant.

Writing Enhanced Courses

I have taken two writing enhanced courses- MAT 117: Elementary Statistics and LIT 212R: Romanticism and Modern World.  Both of these courses enabled me to strengthen my writing skills and my ability to express my thoughts in a written format.

 In my Elementary Statistics class, we had weekly writing assignments where I had to explain different mathematical formulas and how these formulas could be applied to real world situations, such as retrieving data for marketing campaigns or for conducting industry analyses.

In my Romanticism and Modern World class, we read different novels and explored how the idea of "romanticism" has changed and evolved over time.  We read "Wuthering Heights" and "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man," as well as numerous poems.

I was nominated for a Writing Enhanced Award for each class, and I have included my final paper for my LIT 212R class, which was an analysis of Catherine's illness in "Wuthering Heights."

China Field Study 2011

China Adventure: March 10-20, 2011

Over Spring Break in March 2011 I attended a field study to China as a part of my MGT 347b: Asian Business Strategies Class.  This trip was probably the biggest highlight of my academic activities thus far at Pace. We visited Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Macau and got to walk the Great Wall and see the Forbidden City.  We visited with many companies, such as Mastercard and Hyundai, where we learned the differences between management structure in Asia and the United States.  This was a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget. I cannot wait to attend another field study in the future!

The pictures to the left capture a few of the many exciting adventures I went on during my time in China.  One of the biggest challenges was getting past the language barrier that existed while we were there. It's really amazing to see how humans can communicate even when they cannot understand one another. We had to order food and find our way around using hand signals and reading facial expressions!

I was also very brave and ate new kinds of food that I otherwise never would have tried. I ate Peking Duck, Goose, and Fish that they had just taken straight from the fish tank! Chinese food in America is nothing like the real thing in China.

Europe Field Study 2012

Brussels, Belgium and London, UK: January 2-12, 2012

During the Winter Break I participated in a field study to Europe as a part of my MAR 356: International Marketing Class. The goal of this class and integrated field study was to identify current marketing trends in the United States and compare and contrast these trends to ones that exist in Europe.  We also discussed the current economic downfall in Europe, also known as the Euro crisis, and how this is affected business and marketing practices throughout Europe.  We studied topics such as the cause of the Euro crisis, the structure of the European Union, and the future of the European Union.

The trip to Brussels and London really gave us a first-hand experience of what we had been learing about in class. While in Brussels we had the opportunity to visit the European Council and European Commission and listneed to presenters talk about how they run their meetings and structure their system.  It is amazing to see 27 different countries with 27 different languages and cultures work together to formulate laws and regulations that everyone agrees to. While in Brussels we also had a tour of the Coca-Cola factory and other well-known companies to learn about their strategic marketing plans.

London was my personal favorite part of the trip.  There we met with different marketing agencies and talked about trends in the UK.  We also attened a meeting at the European Business School where two different professors presented to us about consumer marketing in the UK and current marketing plans for the Summer 2012 Olympics.  We learned about how London won the bid for the Olympics, how it will affect their economy, and the different types of risk management plans that are involved in such a prestigious event.

And, of course, we were able to do a lot of site seeing. I ate chocolate and waffles in Belgium, went to church at Westmisnter Abbey, saw Big Ben, and walked across Abbey Road. To say the least, it was an unforgettable trip.
