Career Goal

My career goal is to take on a high level communicative role here at Pace University. I would like to manage and oversee all facets of business communication at a higher level.

Word I live by:

“It’s best to own up to your mistakes right away and deal with them-lying and deception will get you nowhere”

"Treat others as you wish to be treated"

"Whenever on door closes, another one opens"

"If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got"

A little about me...

During my career, I have been fortunate enough to work in various areas of the communication field, including television, photography, print media and in large corporations. I thoroughly enjoyed my communication studies and proud to have earned my Masters degree in Media and Communication Arts. I hope to expand my work experience in the future to include corporate communication, creative and business writing, using social media effectively in business, event planning, SEO, website design and professional networking. Ideally, I would like to someday become a Director at Pace, using my communications skills to help the Univsersity in their outreach to internal and external audiences. I believe in the power of communication for personal and business growth!

A Wordle about me...

Overall Reflections of my ePortfolio

My ePortfolio is a snapshot of who I am and is a combination of my education, work experience and life experience. I believe some of life's greatest lessons aren't learned from reading a book or in a classroom, but rather by experiencing them through the roads traveled in life. I don't believe my professional experience is summarized by my resume. I am unique and viewing my ePortfolio will provide an overall view of who I am as a person and what I have to offer any potential employer, group, professional organization or committee. This is a wonderful tool, which in a sense is an evolving "live" resume. I will keep updating this as my studies progress and keep it current as a professional and academic tool.

Although I like ePortfolio overall, there were a few things I did not like about it. I wish we could have chosen from a few simple templates and wish there were a few more options when it comes to personalizing the pages of ePortfolio. I had trouble embedding photos from embed.ly and gave up and found a work around. I created a blog with six entries and wanted to post the entire blog, but found it took up too much space. I wound up exporting and incorporating it as HTML, but it looks very plain, a few graphics are not visible and attachments cannot be seen or downloaded. I also felt I was at a disadvantage as I graduated with my BA quite a few years ago, photos were hard to come by and I had not saved any projects or papers I had written in college. It was challenging as this is my first class in my graduate studies and had no projects or papers to showcase. I write reports and summaries frequently for work, but they are confidential and could not be shared here.

Overall, I did enjoy this project and it made my think about my experiences academically and professionally. I am curious to see how ePortfolio will evolve in years to come.
