Family Circle Article
This is the actual article from the Family Circle August 2010 issue that I wrote. I am very honored that Family Circle gave me such an opportunity.
Mercy College's Newspaper, The Impact, is written and edited by the students of Mercy College. The Impact is published monthly during the academic year. The paper runs news stories, profiles, sports, entertainment, opinion and investigative pieces.
As the 2009-2010 Entertainment and Blog editor, I was fortunate to work with a variety of talented classmates, and a successful academic advisor. In addition, I also had the opportunity to travel to New York City to write entertainment reviews.
During the Spring semester of 2010, of my Undergraduate study, I acquired an internship with Family Circle Magazine as an Editorial Intern in the health and food departments.
My greatest accomplishment was an article published in the August 2010 issue where I interviewed a candidate for our How I Lost It section on the Diet Success page. This was very exciting for me!
I was also able to compile six walking playlist slideshows for www.familycircle.com, all which are available online. These slideshows are songs from different decades designed to meet the needs of a variety of walkers.
I blogged for www.fcinnercircle.com, worked with their social networking site, handled giveaway promotions, organized the Circle of Excellence tester recipients, handled PR contacts for a dad and grad gift guide for June 2010, and lastly, responded to reader requests for recipes.
I absolutely loved my internship experience, and appreciate all of the opportunities I was given. From this experience, I know that I truly want to be in the communication industry, and would love any other opportunity thrown my way!
