Education
B.S., Biology, Cellular and Molecular concentration
Pace University, Pleasantville, NY GPA: 3.8 May 2016
Research Experience
Laboratory of Dr. John M. Maris
Division of Oncology, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia July 2016-Present
Research Technician
There is an urgent need for the development of immune-based therapies for high-risk neuroblastoma, which has a poor prognosis in children. Our focus is on a differentially expressed cell surface oncoprotein in neuroblastoma and other pediatric cancers, glypican-2 (GPC2), as a possible immunotherapeutic target in addition to understanding its role in neuroblastoma tumor survival.
Laboratory of Dr. Nancy A. Krucher
Biology Department, Pace University
Research Assistant May 2014-July 2016
Focus is on the phosphorylation sites and regulation of the Retinoblastoma protein (Rb), a tumor suppressor protein found to be dysfunctional in most cancers. Knockdown of the protein phosphatase nuclear targeting subunit (PNUTS) is found to be important in the phosphorylation state of Rb thus contributing to apoptosis and invasion of cancerous cells.
President’s & Provost’s Student-Faculty Undergraduate Research Program
Pace University September 2014-May 2015
Academic yearlong research program with requirements consisting of periodically attending seminars, uploading online blog posts, and presenting all results in the end-of-year showcase.
