My Resume

Personal Statement

Hello, and welcome to my e-Portfolio! Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Adina McCray and I am a Digital Cinema & Filmmaking major at Pace University. I'd like to thank you for checking out my E-Portfolio, as I do keep it updated with events and projects as I complete them.

Entering my second semester as a sophomore, I have stayed consistently involved on campus. At the end of last semester I began working as a Student Assistant for Educational Media. I took the position of Senator in my second semester Freshman year, and currently hold the position of President as a Junior. In Spring 2015 I traveled with the Office of Multicultural Affairs to the National White Privilege Conference held in Louisville, KY. I am an AALANA (African-American | Latin-American | Asian | Native American) mentor this year. I really enjoy staying involved on campus because it keeps me busy and gives me more chances to meet and interact with new people.

This past summer I had the delight of being an intern at MetLife Insurance at their Bloomfield offices via the INROADS Internship Program. I was placed on the Verizon Wireline Short-Term Disability team to assist with making employee and healthcare provider interviews. I also had the pleasure of working with my fellow interns on a presentation on Wellness in the Workplace, which we presented to each of our respective teams. My manager was also able to provide me with the opportunity to create a brief video on the Culture Club in the Bloomfield office. That video can be found on my Showcase page.

My E-portfolio will serve as a platform for me to present my projects and accomplishments in a semi-professional manner to potential employers. My ideal career would allow me to collaborate with a team of people to create a video project that we all believe in. Whether it be fictional or documentary, I want to be director of a film someday.

During my time in school I plan to develop my skills in story development, editing, casting, directing, and everything else it takes to be a filmmaker. Of course, my efforts will span outside of the classroom and into the field, since I am seeking an internship in the video production and communications area.

While I would like to be able to do it all, films are a collaborative effort. They take the time and talents of many people. In high school I worked for a non-profit organization as a youth intern to produce documentaries on social issues. Each year we finished a project that we all felt was important to the young people of today. At the end of every documentary, although they never exceeded 30 minutes, we were all extremely proud of what we'd accomplished, knowing that it's message could be appreciated by folks both young and old.

I'd like to continue working in that atmosphere. I am confident in my ability to work with others and create a collaborative vision for a project that will be brought to life by the writers, actors/subject matter, cinematography and other elements. When given the opportunity, I do my best to exceed expectations and challenge the original perception of the task.
