I hope you enjoy navigating through the framework of some of the things that make me who I am. I am a student. I am an athlete. I am a world traveller. I am a coach. I am a food lover. I am a photographer. I am a sports fan. I am a writer. I have many different interests that all contribute to my personality. I hope that some of them will resonate with you.

Reflections

Wednesday December 12th 2012

As I sit here in the library looking through my pages and making some final adjustments before this evening's presentations. I can't help but think that I am so relieved to have completed this eportfolio!  Honestly, it really was a lot more time consuming than I had first anticipated. I think the fact that it took me so much time to finally complete it, is partially due to the neat-freak in me. When I look at something that I have created, it has to be as clean and uniform as possible. It has to be visually appealing. It has to make sense. So, because of this I found myself changing the layouts, text-sizes, fonts, and picture sizes for quite an unreasonable amount of time. As I breathe this sigh of relief, I can finally say - It is done, and I am happy with it!

Sure, it's not perfect, not by any means but I am proud of what I've accomplished with this project as a whole. There are still some things that I need to improve on with my eportfolio at a later stage. Looking through other peoples' pages highlighted this to me even more so. For instance, I love how Adam alphabetized his pages and added descriptions so that his portfolio told a story. I also really like the tabs Caity and Michelle placed at the top of their pages. I must admit that when I looked at Amy's wordle it made me decide that I just had to make one too because it looked so good. While I did manage to get the hang of the wordle, I still can't figure out how to re-arrange the pages box or add the tabs at the top. But I'm OK with it. My portfolio is not perfect, it's just me.

On reflection of the content of my eportfolio. I am happy with my decision to separate my undergraduate experience from my post graduate experience. I chose to title these pages as an experience because that's really what my time spent at both the schools I attended have been. They've been more than just classes and tests they've helped me to grow as a person.

Overall, I would have to say the thing I liked most about eporfolio, is that it allows you to showcase aspects of your accomplishments that would simply be impossible to do in a resume. For example, my hobby of photography is something that I always list as an interest on my resume. However, I can't exactly show it to a future employer. I think that being able to display other aspects of your personality like this really helps for people to see you as a whole person.

I was thinking today that eportfolio is really like show and tell for graduate students, in a much more proffesional sense of course!

Congradulations again to everyone on your great work this semester!

Happy Holidays,

Jess

Cloths of Heaven

"Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams."
