Social Media & Public Relations

Over the course of my Undergraduate career, I had the opportunity to figure out  what I wanted to pursue in the future. I came to the realization that Social Media & Public Relations is the path for me. I have gained invaluable experience through internships and connections through my sorority.  In this day and age, Social Media is a great tool to communicate with others from all over the world.

On this page, you will see my Social Media accounts that I have continually added to, as well as, monitored community management and growth on both platforms.  I hope to one day continue blogging about travel and anything I feel passionate about.  Aside from creating these accounts, I hope to use these as a "Social Media Portfolio" in the future.

Notes

  • Although I had less followers on Twitter, I still felt that I was able to interact with other users on the network
  • I had an easier time figuring out what to post on Twitter than Instagram
  • Twitter followers gained over the course of the semester: 87
  • Instagram Followers gained: 360

Learning Experience

I decided to experiment with these Social Media accounts that I created to see what content the Instagram and Twitter community gravitate towards and how that will affect my posts and the times that I post.

Over the course of the semester, I realized that I was able to grow my Instagram following faster than my Twitter following.  My thought process on this is that Instagram is used for more personal images, as well as, travel blogging, and therefore, it is easier to maintain a following on that platform, in comparison to Twitter, where we write quick thoughts and link images if necessary.

Twitter in my personal opinion is used in a more professional manner and equipped for sharing information in an efficient way.

In using Twitter I shared articles that I felt were on brand, as well as, articles that users will gravitate towards. The aesthetic I decided to create on my Instagram was not instantly decided, nor easy to accomplish.  My goal was to create a travel based- Instagram account.  I thought doing so, would be relatable and this account would help me maintain followers, since I had a specific goal and aesthetic.

This was a great learning experience for me, and I hope to continue to add to these accounts in the future!
